A Rich Heritage & History of Innovation

For nearly a century and a half, we have led the way in innovation for clients and the entire insurance industry —first introducing and promoting the concept and practice of client representation through brokerage, the discipline of risk management, the globalization of insurance and risk management services and many other innovative tools and service platforms. 

In 1871, our Founder, Henry W. Marsh dropped out of Harvard and set off to Chicago because he saw a way to revolutionize the insurance industry after the Great Fire. The visionary outlook, pioneering spirit and entrepreneurial drive he displayed all those years ago are core Marsh values that define how we do business today and in the future. We are a firm that provides talented individuals with immediate responsibility and remarkable entrepreneurial latitude. At the same time, we maintain an extraordinary degree of collaboration. Most assignments here involve working across global business lines.
